I’d like to announce the birth of a new universe. I’ve been mulling over the creation of a website for some time. Having my first novel, “The Dragon in My Back Yard” published in 2021 motivated me into action. After all, most writers have websites. However, most author websites serve only to sell books. As a life-long naturalist & educator, I wanted to provide interesting and useful content.
https://alangoldsteinsuniverse.com focuses on three areas: “Books Plus” (writing), “The Earth” and “The Sky.” Each section provides what I think will be useful information. To maintain the website, I will be selling my novel, fossils and minerals (especially Steve Garza’s collection).
If you explore “The Earth” pages, you will find:
* Fossils – with background information and faunal lists
* Minerals – collecting, Steve Garza’s collection, photos from decades of mineral collecting
* Nature – expanding resources and information about the world around us
* Photo gallery – including fossils (organized for identification), minerals (especially those of the Ohio Valley), geology (natural areas, caves, collecting sites), nature (flora, fauna & weather), and “my favorites” (with the weird, humorous and historical images).
“The Sky” pages features everything astronomical. I’ve been an amateur astronomer for 50 years and an active writer since the late 1970s. “Astronomy” magazine has been my primary outlet since 1981.
I welcome contributions by the rockhound community! Just drop me an email (not to the whole group) so we can talk.
While we are along for the ride in our universe, I hope you will explore mine! And if you are looking for fossils or minerals for your collection, check out the featured specimens and/or my species lists.
Regards,
Alan
