We have a piece of Devonian Callixylon petrified wood at the Falls of the Ohio State Park. It weighs about 900 lbs. A suitable analogy for a donation by a retired dentist - it was like extracting a tooth. We had to use a backhoe to pull it up from his front yard! It had sunk 2/3 into the ground. We didn't know how big it was when the strap was looped around the fossil.
