[Rockhounds] Sammette Blend Goethite

Kreigh: I have not heard of the term, but Dana, in his System, Seventh
Edition, lists Sammete under the heading for  goethite: from the German
Sammeteblende,
(Also called Przibramit, among several other terms), which is a synonym for
goethite (called brown iron-stone in Europe).

I can copy and send Dana's descriptions, if you don't have it.

I picked up a specimen at an estate sale from an old collector (92 when he
died) that was probably collected in the late 50's or early 60's that was
labeled

"Quartz with Sammette Blend Goethite X'ls Ohio Mine"


Google can't tell me what 'Sammette Blend' is. I am guessing it is a miner's
term for some type of crystal formation. Does anyone know?
