Heh... I think we'll save the SE Iowa area for the spring. We bring our little Scamp trailer down to the state park and set up camp there. Last time we got some fabulous collecting suggestions from others in the campgrounds. Do we need more geodes? Of course we do! Sitting in my office I can look down into the back yard and see at least a half dozen BIG halves sitting on the edge of the garden.

It is shorter to drive to Cave in Rock / Rosiclare through Illinois, but if you go through Missouri you would pass only a few miles from Hamilton, IL / Keokuk, IA. / St. Francisville, MO. I’d stop and get some geodes… It’s probably too late for the ones that weather out in the spring, but digging might be OK if it isn’t too cold. I think a few places have good shops as well.
