[Rockhounds] Net Zero Needs More Metals, But Less Extraction From the Earth

One would think that if every country actually required recycling metal to
the highest extent possible would make up for much of that. Somewhere I read
(and don't quote me on this) that the amount of discarded rare earths (e.g.,
lithium ion batteries) outstrips existing production. I'm sure that some new
recovery technology would be needed. I don't like to give out my info so I
can see one paywalled article for free.
