[Rockhounds] An unusually strong solar storm tonight could produce northern lights in the U.S.

Not much in Portland OR either, though it was definitely hit and miss. A
friend in Salem 50 minutes away posted some beautiful photos from Friday
night. And our kids 20 minutes from us (and closer to the city lights) saw
curtains. We could see purple and green patches of sky, and the occasional
shimmering. No different Saturday night. Blech.

I am seeing aurora photos on the morning news from the Louisville area last
night and one photographed in Mississippi. Apparently, they weren’t easily
seen with the naked eye. I was driving from Cincinnati to Louisville last
night and didn’t notice anything. Granted, I was not looking due north…
