[Rockhounds] Lapis Lazuli Locality Help

You’re right—the Flor de los Andes location is different from the Flor de Chile Mine and Cazadero River localities, which are close together.  Comparing photos isn’t the best way, nor a definite way to determine localities, but your specimen looks to me to be very similar to the specimen from the Flor de los Andes, El Plvo, Monte Patria, Limari Province, Chile.  The color and purity of the lapis, and the association and texture look very different from the paler and somewhat disseminated lapis in a yellower matrix from the other localities.  But short of some distinguishing trace element, isotopic, or rare associated mineral fingerprint, I wouldn’t have a lot of confidence in a guess from photo comparisons.

You might have already checked Mindat, but they list one locality in Chile--Cazadero River, Ovale, Limari Province, Coquimbo, CHILE.  The specimens they show look like the one in your photos (i.e., similar texture and associated minerals).

I have a piece of Lapis Lazuli that I purchased sometime ago. The label states the Locality as Andes Mountains, Chile.  Would anyone be knowledgeable enough to tell me more specifically what the locality is?  I have tried looking this up on line and see a few possible contenders and don't know I could determine the correct one.
