[Rockhounds] Curiosity finds wave ripples on Mars

As a geologist, I found the high-resolution 360˚ view fascinating—beautiful ripple marks to the right and on the dark slabs in the crater, finely laminated siltstones(?) in the tall exposure; they sure look like shallow water deposits to me.  I was also intrigued by the bore hole in the plate just to the right of Curiosity, below the arm with all the sampling and analytical tools.  Drilling caused the entire plate to be pushed down about 1/8-1/4 inch, which says something about the compressibility of the loose sediments surrounding the plate.  And there’s a block in the distance on the left that has its bedding strongly dipping down to the left.  That fits with the mention of landsliding (early wet or later dry slides).  So much to see in that image!
