[Rockhounds] superconductivity

I talked about this with my son, a chemist by training and a supercomputer
operating system developer by vocation, about this when it came out.  He
called me with a "Dah... you need to look at this..."  He was pretty
excited.

I'm sure you've all been following this since the initial report a week or
so ago.  I was very skeptical since so many similar claims have been made in
the past with nothing to show later on.  Moreover the basic chemistry of
this was not one of the ones that everyone has been watching so it didn't
seem to be a winner from the get-go. That said, 3 labs so far have
corroborated the findings and this seems to indicate that the initial
reports were valid - there is some sort of superconductivity going on here
and if it can be manufactured at scale, it could be as revolutionary as
semiconductors were to electronics.
Let's keep our fingers crossed!
