Hi Kreigh & list,
I distinctly remember Pele's wake-up call. Just enough to make you remember that you're in spitting distance of a continually active volcano!
My first thought was "there goes the Hilina slump!", but that was clearly over-dramatizing the event ;-)
Next time I go there I will build a small altar with some stones and put a bottle of gin in it. That is what the locals do to appease Pele.

It has been said that a geologist needs to visit a volcano, visit a
glacier, and experience an earthquake.
I started screaming "Yes!" the first time I got woken up by an earthquake
(on the 'big island' in Hawaii).
