I sent this out last week but didn't get it with the rockhound list like usual, so it may not have gone through. If it did, my apologies (and it's updated since last week):

This has been a challenging year. My wife passed away last month and settling the household has kept me occupied. My daughters and I are doing okay and looking to the future. In fact, we're planning a family vacation to Iceland later this year. We'll go with a tour package, but I welcome suggestions and if you know of any rockhounds there.

Next, Steve Garza fell and re-broke his hip. He's doing okay. He's back from rehab and I talked to him today. He was quite animated - as sharp as I've seen him in months. He helped me ID several specimens without any confusion. Last week, I met up with a dealer interested in Corydon Quarry material. He got A LOT, and I can hardly tell anything is gone by looking at the garage shelves. I brought home some specimens to clean and there were a few awesome phantom calcites (orange inclusions) and negative rhombs perched on dolomite. Until I washed them, they still had original quarry dust! Also have material from the famous Mount Mica mine in Maine including small tourmaline xls and lepidolite. Today, I tackled the barn and uncovered a lot of dark blue celestine from the Meckley Quarry, Mandata, PA, mixed geodes from Fort Knox and the KY 1638 collecting site from 1990 when they rebuilt the highway. Lots of strontianite and celestite geodes from TNs to boulders.

Anyone interested in uranium minerals? I have flats of material mostly from the Palermo mine (meta-autunite, torbernite, gummite, and unknowns), but some from the Dunton Gem Quarry and a 2 x 2 cm Andersonite from Utah. I found a weeksite specimen today.

Dee & I are preparing for a "everything must go" New England mineral sale with the organized flats in the house. Many different localities collected in 1960s - early 1980s. Let me know if you want details when we're ready.

I continue to work on my website: alangoldsteinsuniverse.com.
Additions include geological articles I wrote years ago and more images in the photo gallery including fluorite and a lot of fossils in various phyla. On my "minerals for sale page," everything is 50% off. If there is anything you are looking for, let me know. Reply to me privately - not to the group. (deepskyspy at outlook.com)

Hope you have a good year for geological collecting /acquiring, discovering, & displaying. I'm heading to the Bluegrass Gem & Mineral Society show in the morning.

Regards,
Alan Goldstein
