Sounds a lot like our Mormon crickets. They have been so thick in Nevada and
southeast Oregon that some years you have to roll up your windows and turn
on the AC to avoid the stench of hundreds of thousands that got squished on
the highway and were melting in the heat. I doubt they could go extinct,
even though I'm sure a lot of cattle ranchers and hay growers wish they
would.
