At the Falls of the Ohio State Park, we’ve been digitizing our collection for a few years. The next step is developing a web site devoted to public access. Our collections are infinitesimal compared to the Smithsonian but contain a good variety of Silurian and Devonian fossils, along with a few minerals, diverse prehistoric artifacts, and lots of flat documents (article clippings, historical photos, maps, etc.).
The goal is to have a website with access to our images and data for students, scientists & historians and the curious public.
What search fields you would look for to help you identify a fossil or other items? Have you seen the ‘ideal’ museum collections website? What is it?
