I have violated one of the main rules of desert digging.  I left the dogs'
water out at the campsite while digging.  Separately, I was driven out of
my dig by 10 or so bees buzzing me and the dogs.  This is always a sure
sign to get out of a place since they send signals to more to come.  I
sloppily threw a bunch of specimens in my backpack and left.  I shook this
small group only to find my camp swarming with hundreds.  I was able to get
my specimens and the cooler into the truck without being noticed by tge
swarm, but everything else is still there.  I am 200 yards from the camp
and will have to wait until dusk to reclaim it.  7 hours of not much to
do.  I tried to run over the dog bowl with my truck to drain the water but
the damn Walmart product is too sturdy.

Even now, 200 yards away, an occasional bee is buzzing the truck.  Shit.
But, I did get some awfully nice specimens.
