After reading Kitty's post about Lahaina Noon, I realized (when viewing some of my USGS news stories today), today, May 18, is also the 40th anniversary of the cataclysmic eruption of Mt. St. Helens, in which 57 people were killed.  There are numerous news stories about it online today.
