I'm reading the 8th book in The Expanse series. For the uninformed, it's about humans encountering a highly advanced alien life and trying to figure out the life that killed it. But the portrayal of life on Mars (the attempt at terraforming) and asteroid belt (where almost every one is either a community or being mined) is an important part of the story in the first four books. In it, the Mars community is still early in the terraforming process. Everyone lives underground - that's realistic. The satellites of Jupiter and Saturn are also underground communities each have commercial activities based on their location and content. The authors did research.

Makes me about what it would take to make a home on Titan (no doubt settled by a petro-chemical company) and Io. Those worlds have their own challenges.

I'm writing a novel based on Mars 3.5 billion years ago. A side story has with aliens directing comets to increase the planet's water content. I've been collecting articles about a wet Mars to make the content more accurate even if the premise is a bit off the wall.

I've enjoyed this string.

I saw The Expanse... except for the ghost thing and the Blue Stuff I found it an excellent paradigm. This is really what mining will look like in maybe 50 years...
I believe that we're looking for a novel by Larry Niven... Hollowed out asteroids figurate in a few of his creations, don't they?

I'll look for, is mostly set ar, no surprise I haven't seen it. That author is unknown.

Of course the current SF hit, the Expanse is mostly set around an asteroid belt civilization.
