Just a reminder, rock and gem now has a "marketplace" on their myrockhub
website. Maybe register as a dealer and maybe sell of your collections
that way. I don't know what's involved, but might be better than an eBay
method?
https://www.myrockhub.com/marketplace/
I will say this... When I buy collections off of family after someone
passes and they don't know what to do with the garage or house full of
rocks, I usually pay by the pound or a price based on what I know is there
and its usually wholesale. (I'm not a dealer) So if you have really good
pieces you should focus on those, label them and either sell them to
friends or on Facebook/eBay or through a club, etc. Because once we pass
from this mortal coil those rocks outlast us and eventually becomes a
burden on family if they don't know any better and that results in bad
situations. I've rescued specimens from dumpster because the family just
didn't have the time or patience to figure what is in the piles.
Years ago, I think mineralogical record had a good article on how estate
planning should include a plan for your mineral collection dispersments. I
don't recall what year/issue, but it was a good read.
