[Rockhounds] AD- Downsizing

I write on the bucket with a sharpie and call it good. When it fades (which
it will) I write over it. Unless I don't catch it and have to figure out
what I wrote in the first place. The oil based pens hold up much longer but
I've had random luck with them. Some write for years and others dry up in
months.

I am growing my own collector who will take it all when I am done with it.
That only makes sense, since he is often the one making me buy (or collect)
more and more rocks. Of course, I am talking about my son, the geology
major.
That said, I have been pondering (not doing, but pondering) how best to
document and label the collection so that people will know what things are
and which ones have more value than others. I often get bogged down with the
details of how the system should work. However, my biggest problem is how to
handle 200 pounds of miscellaneous rocks all collected at the same place and
same time. Do you just document the bucket or label each and every one of
them?
