"At least some of the springs are in trouble tho, eutrophication
is making then cloudy and greenish. No more being able to see 200 feet.
Manatee Springs is one that I have the most experience with and it is hit
hard. They know the problem , a golf course septic system a couple of miles
away."
Ewww!
One might think a state environmental agency OR a local Health Department could force the golf course to build a real septic system that treats their sewage before discharging it into the ground water.
One would be wrong in many places.
Strange how few people really want a clean environment~!!~
When I worked for WVDEP I saw photos of banks of feces on the bank of a local river, discharged from the bottom of a local cave system. Farmer used the sinkhole on his farm as his "disposal system" which acted as a straight pipe for both the cattle waste AND the farmhouse waste. That was fixed right quickly.
Shame coal and oil and gas messes are not fixed so promptly or completely... but big money walks. The Governor is proud to proclaim that he is "A Big Coal Man!"
