Larry sent me a copy of his calendar and it is awesome. So I got to
thinking, why not have everyone post one good mineral picture or a few for
those that can't decide. Then I can drop them into a monthly flip style
calendar and when all is done you can print your own. I only ask that:
1) all attributes be given as to who photographed it vs. owns the mineral.
(ie, if you didn't take the picture, you better have permission to share
it. and Vice Versa) Please don't send in pictures of something that
someone else owns the rights to because it was in a magazine, etc.
2) no selling the calendar at all. This is for the Rockhounds group and I
don't think you should make money off of photo's from other rockhounds
without permission, etc. That includes selling it for the price of
printing it.
3) feel free to write a "description" sentence or two, but you can get
away with Mineral, location and your name as a bare minimum.
4)KISS - Keep It Simple (for) Steve - You don't need to have a
professional photographer take the picture, Modern Cell phone pics are
fine. Maybe keep the background distractions minimal. The more in focus
the better. JPG is ok, PNG is better.
6)This will be fun, if it is not fun, you are overthinking it and need to
go back to #4.
Larry, this is not to minimize your calendar, just an opportunity to share
among the list for those that would like to participate. I would even like
to post your mineral if you would like to participate!
Pics should be sent with a "cloud" type link. ie, google drive or any of
the other links instead of sending full files to clog the list. Like this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B6bwHIq8uVv6b1ZjLXAxb2RjSUU/view?usp=sharing
I will give everyone till December 28th and if we have enough, I will put
it in the calendar format and put the link on the list. If not then I
guess maybe next year? That gives everyone just over a week. Seriously,
what else are you gonna do between now and then?
Merry Christmas! Rock on!
