[Rockhounds] Was: Being a rockhound can be hazardous out west. NOW: written in stone

You're welcome, Pete 😊
Could we look upon quotes as petrified sentences, perhaps?
The verbal equivalent of coprolites.

Now, didn't I just gracefully steered that back on topic?

Axel

"Alea iacta est" is just an overdramatic way of saying "We're committed". Sorry Jules...

Axel, dear friend, do take care in invoking my name in statements like this! But thank you for thinking of my sake.
: )
Pete

Dear fellow rockhounds...

I have no idea what the problem is.
Quotes (ALL OF THEM) are nothing less than brainfarts from famous people, inspired by an event that has been long forgotten. Lesser people use and abuse them until they become meaningless.
In fact, if you look upon a quote, it consists of words and has no meaning whatsoever outside the time and place it was first uttered by someone who was probably in a state of being overwhelmed and pressed into saying something to span the moment of awkwardness that arises from too many people looking at one and awaiting some catchy phrase.
I will now produce a quote to put under my name. Enjoy, and please, for Pete's sake, get back to rocks.

Axel
