When you dive east to west through Waimea in the middle of the Big 
Island you go from lush greenery to desert within the town limits.  I 
once asked a guy who said he lived in Waimea "Which side?"  He replied 
"Well, there's hanging moss on a tree outside my kitchen, and a saguaro 
cactus outside my bedroom."
