That's true for SOME areas of Hawaii -- Hilo normally get 130 inches a 
year, and where we live upslope but within the city limits, it's 200 
inches per year, and it is roughly the same for all the other Islands in 
Hawaii on the east side.

However, on the west side of the islands, it gets less than 20 inches a 
year.  Honolulu gets only 17 inches of rain per year!
