Subject: [Rockhounds] Earthquake Early Detection
Some interesting research on early warning for earthquakes..geophysicists
have found that earthquakes may be able to be detected up to 40 minutes
before they cause earth movements by studying an ionized air column in the
ionosphere, some 150 miles above the fracture in the earth's surface. They
have found that electrons are energized by being activated above the ground
movements, which can be measured and possibly serve as an early warning
system to give people enough time to escape the devastation below. This is,
so far, not proven in situ, but has some scientists interested enough to
start long-range studies on the phenomena.
For details, see:

Or IBID , Vol.122, No.8, Aug.2017

Or Scientific American, Oct.2018
