Funny. But I can attest that it's OK to warm an (opened) can of beans
above a hot crack in a fresh lava flow... Assuming you don't fall into
a lava tube... Because many years ago, when we hiked out a mile or two
from the west end of Chain of Craters Road to see active flows and ocean
entry (fabulous! hypnotizing!), we met another hiker who was doing just
that. Didn't notice any sulphuric acid fumes either, though.
