Actually, there are five volcanoes on the Big Island. 
Only Mauna Loa and Kilauea are still active.

Haleakala on Maui is also impressive. That is actually two volcanoes that
collapsed in the center to form one large (what looks like but isn't a)
caldera.

>From the top of  Mauna Kea you can actually see the top of Haleakala (house
of the sun).

The Hawaii volcano starts on the ocean floor.  It is anything but flat and
if I remember correctly, it is taller than Mt. Everest.
