Indeed, noting about volcanoes is friendly or safe.
Kilauea MAY look like a soft case but I believe it shouldn't be scuffed at.

We dove at Kealakekua Bay at the Capt. Cook site in the 90s and there was a
very cool lava cave/amphitheater at the time. Then after the earthquake
sometime before 2007 we dove it again and the entire thing had collapsed
along with a chunk of the cliff. Impressive.
