I agree completely, beautiful place and well worth the trip. Never a lot of people there either. Took my parents from Eastern WA there many years ago and they really liked it despite them not being big geology/paleo people. Just take lots of water in the summer.

I've been on the trail, if you're ever in central Oregon and into paleontology it's a must see, along with the Painted Hills. The Condon Paleontology Center ties it all together. All worth a day of your time.
