I recently came across an odd specimen I collected years ago, from a
well-known and heavily visited quartz vein in CT. Although this locality is
known for large, milky quartz crystal plates, often with a "corn-cob"
overlay, these small single quartz crystals showing casts of a previous
mineral, Glauberite, have been found as single broken crystals in large
numbers in the past. These satisfy my interest in collecting odd forms and
habits in crystals, so I offer these photos to share....

(Quartz showing casts after Glauberite. Total size 2X6cm. This kind of
cavity exposure is well known in the New Jersey Prehnite localities, but
uncommon in Ct. This one
is from Diamond Ledge, W. Stafford, Connecticut)
