Also, the Unamin mine off of Hwy 19E, close to Spruce Pine,NC, offers a good selection of hyalite opal on the quartz seams. Thru the good graces of Rick Jacquot and MAGMA, some of the club members were allowed to visit the mine in 2005, to collect whatever they could pick up.  By now, the site is closed to visitors.
