You cannot make anything without having some emission.
Making 1 kilo of batteries may indeed use the equivalent of 1.6 kg of oil but the use batteries is lastingly beneficial, this it warrants the use of fossil fuel to make them. The use of fossil fuel is lastingly damaging and should be banned, except for making batteries... 😉

Indeed, but you get it WHEN you want it!
I have a roof full of solar cells but without storage of their energy, they're no good to me at night.
Elon Musk is doing great work here.
Tesla batteries are costly but they could make a huge difference in
CO2 emission.
They would cost the energy companies a LOT, should they ever become popular, so I guess that they won't...
